Day 4 ✅ Exploring Sustainability and Creative DIY Solutions

Sustainability is about making mindful choices in how we live, consume, and interact with the environment. Day 4 encouraged participants to engage deeply with the concept of sustainability through discussions, role-playing, and hands-on activities, emphasizing the importance of reusing and repurposing everyday items.

Intro to the Day + Energizers:
The day began with energizers to set a lively and positive tone, preparing participants for an engaging lineup of activities.

🌍 Fish Bowl Discussion: Climate Change:
Participants explored climate change through the interactive "Fish Bowl" method. This discussion format increased focus and interactivity, allowing participants to dive into the topic in a structured and inclusive way. Key points included the causes and effects of climate change and actionable solutions.

🎭 Role Play:
In this session, participants assumed roles with specific characteristics, such as gender, age, and socio-economic status, to simulate real-life situations. The exercise fostered empathy and understanding by exploring the challenges faced by different groups. Observers and role-players analyzed the dynamics and outcomes in a follow-up discussion, linking the activity to sustainability and social responsibility.

🛠️ DIY Workshop – Reuse and Repurpose:
The highlight of the day was the hands-on DIY workshop, where participants learned creative ways to give new life to discarded items. Activities included:

  • Tetrapak Wallets: Transforming packaging into functional wallets.

  • T-Shirt Bags: Repurposing old t-shirts into reusable bags.

  • Bamboo Ashtrays: Crafting ashtrays from bamboo.

  • DIY Cosmetics: Making toothpaste and deodorant using common household ingredients.

These workshops not only taught practical skills but also reinforced the importance of reducing waste and promoting sustainability in daily life.

🌀 Mid-Term Evaluation – Way of Council:
In the evening, participants engaged in a "Way of Council" session. This storytelling and sharing method emphasized active listening and empathy, creating a safe space for participants to reflect on their progress, share experiences, and discuss future needs. It strengthened group dynamics and provided valuable insights into the project’s mid-term achievements.

🌍 Intercultural Night:
The day concluded with another lively Intercultural Night, celebrating the diversity of cultures represented in the group. Participants shared traditional foods, music, and dances, fostering mutual respect and joy.
